At $1750 MRR, Dockhunt, Gradient Wallpapers
Pika crossed 1M INR in revenue this month, a great milestone. It’s currently at $1,750 MRR(+$260 from last month)
I’ve also started to continue with showing ads on Pika to free users, which is a monetisation channel I wanted to try since last year. We already have ads sold out for this and the next month, and remaining slots are being discussed too :)
Personal site design
I haven’t seen a personal site like moritzpetersen.com in a while. The site has animations, gestures, great typography, clarity and what not, everything so well done and structured
The design uses custom pointer instead of browser default and the best thing about it is it snaps to links, buttons etc., a really nice touch
Some nice gradient wallpapers for you
I have been seeing lots of screenshot apps like Pika use same set of free backgrounds from sites like Unsplash to present screenshots. Not something I liked, so I opened Figma and design a set of 8 gradient backgrounds exclusively for Pika users
I’ve also made 4K wallpapers out of those background, which is free for personal use and download :)
A Chrome extension that adds more context to your Twitter
I had joined Hive.one team full-time last month. Hive is basically an effort to make more sense out of Twitter’s data. It analyses Twitter accounts and classifies them in communities they’re active in, all algorithmically. Hive also ranks users in these communities based on their followers, engagement and influence. This data can be very helpful, for ex. if you want to find top VCs, or if you want to connect with users of a certain community
This month we released Hivemark, a Chrome extension that shows user communities and ranks information right inside Twitter’s web app. It can help you identify accounts you might be interested in, discover new accounts etc.
Dockhunt, a site to discover user dock apps
I recently discovered Dockhunt, an interesting site that shows what apps users have in their macOS Dock
You can also share your dock apps just by running `npx dockhunt` in Terminal. It’ll automatically find your dock apps and create a page on the site of your dock apps after you authenticate with Twitter
That’s all for January!
I would love to know what do you think about these newsletters that I send, specially what more of or less of you’ll like in these. Do you like the content? Whether yes, or no, would appreciate if you can share in reply :)
Here’s a cat GIF for you 😁
