This year was of self discovery and getting out of comfortable zone. I’ve written a more detailed and personal recap of my 2022 in this blog post
In terms of side-projects, I am happy that I was able to start and grow Pika to a good point. I consider it a good achievement because I was also handling a full-time job along with it. It was a difficult task to maintain expectations of 100+ paid users for a side-project that I was doing just for fun
Let’s see the progress on my side-projects in terms of numbers
Pika.style:
0 → 140+ paid users
$0 MRR → $1,400+ MRR
$0 → $10,000+ in revenue
160k unique views, 330k page views
Close to 99,000 image exports
Kizie.co:
0 → 11 paid users
$64 MRR
$737 in revenue
100k unique views, 287k page views
Total of 5,894 users, 1,000+ used it in last month
I’m not a numbers person, $$ and page views don’t excite me much anymore
Though I love when I get a mention from a total stranger on Twitter saying how useful my app is to them. Or an email saying how Pika is saving their time and efforts. That is inspiring!
Realisations and 2023
I have been contemplating a lot about the last 6 months of my life. I’ve spent all of it in building apps, shit-posting on Twitter and mostly in front of screens
While it helped me in a way or other, I also am kind of disappointed that I couldn’t travel as much as I wanted to. I didn’t take as much as photos as I wanted to. I didn’t wander on empty streets as much as I like. I missed doing a lot of things that fills soul. 2023 is going to be about all these things :)
What did you miss doing in 2022? What do you want to do more in 2023?
